A Genius Secretly Responds with [X] to Their Conjectures (ゆく［ｘ］の流れは絶えずして…, Yuku [X] no Nagare wa taezu shite…?) is the eighth episode of Season 2 and the twenty-first episode of the We Never Learn anime series.
Synopsis[]
Takizawa the psychical education teacher, informs Nariyuki that he's going to fail P.E. for that semester. Therefore, he agrees to take on a tutoring course on swimming.
The swimming tutoring courses don't go well for Nariyuki as Takizawa believes he's incorrigible. So to try and fix this conundrum, Takizawa has Uruka also help tutor Nariyuki. Soon, Kirisu arrives at the scene and reminds Takizawa about an important document she needs to turn it. In light of this, Takizawa leaves Kirisu in charge of overlooking the swimming lesson. Because Uruka is a terrible teacher, Kirisu steps in and notes that Nariyuki is afraid of water. Hesitant at first, he answers that he is a little. So then, Kirisu helps Nariyuki to swim and Uruka follows her example when she does it with him.
In the showers, Uruka notices Kirisu's muscular physic and they briefly talk about how Kirisu used to avidly practice a particular sport. The conversation then changes to about how Uruka is nervous about the upcoming competition. As per her typical fashion, Kirisu candidly states that Uruka should give up trying to keep a calm mind in critical moments. Going as far as to claim that it's impossible and that she should just enjoy the sport for what it is and force herself for perfection. On the day of the swimming competition, Uruka manages to win the competition.
Because of her recent victory and her improving grades in English, the Headmaster asks if Uruka would be interested in studying abroad. And Takizawa who was also there, mentions a university known as Ausway Yogi University, a place known for its superb swim team. The Headmaster and Takizawa want her to consider Uruka how she wants to proceed with her future, but not hastily. Afterward, Uruka is caught daydreaming in the study group by Nariyuki. Uruka denies it and gets flustered when Nariyuki bumps into her.
The next day, Uruka gets advice about long-distance relationships from Fumino at a family restaurant. This causes a minor scene between the two as Uruka tries to reassure Fumino the advice is for a friend and not her. Soon, Nariyuki arrives and in a panic, Uruka hides under the table and sends Fumino several text messages telling her not to blow her cover. As Nariyuki sets up the notes for Uruka's study notes for the next day, he notes his great impression of Uruka as of late. But not only that he notes that she also has been avoiding him as of late and figures she's found a boyfriend. Fumino denies that notion, but asks if he didn't see Uruka for a long time, how would he feel? Perplexed by the question, Nariyuki answers that he'd miss her a little. It's then that Nariyuki has to leave to attend a super sale at a supermarket and rushes off.
The very next day at the Headmaster's office, Uruka tells him that she'll accept the offer to Ausway Yogi University. Later she meets with Nariyuki and after telling him that she wants to do more English studying with him, makes him very emotional.
