The Star of Ultimate Love and the Name of [X] (Part 2) (最愛の星に［ｘ］の名を (後編), Saiai no Hoshi ni [X] no Na wo (Koupen)?) is the tenth episode of Season 2 and the twenty-third episode of the We Never Learn anime series.
Synopsis[]
Nariyuki awakens to Fumino preparing breakfast for them. It turns out that Hanae has plans to do something with her youngest kids and will leave the two alone that morning.
Fumino serves Nariyuki some breakfast and although he likes it, he guesses wrong what the meal is. Throughout the entire day, Fumino fails all of the chores around the house that she does and heavily relies on Nariyuki for help. After helping Nariyuki with his bath, she falls asleep due to fatigue. Nariyuki brings her to bed and when she wakes up they go on a date together. They head to the top of a mountain, where the stars are most vivid, and there they enjoy tea together. While stargazing, they talk astronomy and after Nariyuki hears Fumino talk passionately about the subject. He suggests that she confront her father Reiji and disclose to him how she really feels about the subject.
Not wanting to run away forever, Fumino does confront her father at their residence. When she does, Fumino confesses that she wants to study astrology, but Reiji remains obstinant in allowing her to pursue that dream. Therefore, she gives a passionate speech on how her knowledge of the subject and how she wants to learn it. Although the speech reminds him of her mother, it's not enough to convince him. So, Fumino shows her father her mom's laptop, to which, he thought had a math thesis on it. However, it was really a video message from Shizuru. In it, she confesses that the math thesis was a lie and that she never was a mathematical genius, and hopes that Fumino pursues something she truly cares about. After watching that bit, Fumino goes outside and meets with Nariyuki, while Reiji continues to watch the video. As he does, a young Fumino visits her mother and claims if she finds a new star she'll name it after her father. It's also revealed that the password was Reiji as well. Back to Nariyuki and Fumino, the two talk and enjoy each other's company.
The following day, Fumino and Reiji attend the Parent-Teacher conference. Outside the school, Fumino informs Nariyuki that her father approves of her dream now. In turn, Nariyuki informs her that his mother had a conversation with her father where he tried to give money, but she refused it. Hanae calls Reiji out for being at the Parent-Teacher conference wasn't for Rizu, but for Fumino. Hesitantly, he confirms that notion and confesses what he did to Fumino as a child. Since then all he's thought about is math and nothing else. Soon, Reiji confronts the two and inquires his relationship with his daughter
