The name's Vince and I thought about helping around the place since I first stopped by. I already did the page summary for Episode 1 of the anime and recently added some images and made the Gallery look proper.
Although, I do want to hear your opinion of it and if you approve of what I did. If you don't, then I'll totes understand, so don't worry about it.
Hi Vince, I took notice of your work since your first edit a days back. The pleasure should have been mine to greet you then.
I really like appreciate your effort to the Episode 01 article. You planned out what to write, and finished them by in a short timespan.
That is what I expect from a perfect editor. It’d be great to place the wiki in your care.
Well, a quick feedback I suppose. First, I see you use American English, so it’s more proper to place periods and commas inside quotation marks, “like this.”
And secondly, speaking from statistics, wiki readers are more interested in character articles (Furihashi, Yuiga, Rizu, etc.) and so Episode/Chapter articles tend to be ignored. I see that you are more proficient in writing synopses. Perhaps a synopsis section can be one of your focuses.
On another note, if you don’t mind. Are you from the We Never Learn Discord? You seems dedicated and knowledgeable of the series for a wiki editor.
I'll keep the first one in mind, as for the second one, I can do character summaries as well. I have been doing those things in both the K-ON! and Date A Live wikis, unless you already have someone in mind to do them.
As for the last one... I didn't know the wiki already had a discord group, so sorry to say that I'm not. My knowledge of the series stems from careful reading and paying close attention to almost everything that happens in the series, whether it's the anime or manga. It's a personal trait I have when it comes to reading or watching a story that I like -- I take note of pretty much every detail I can pick up, no matter how significant or not they are lol
And rest assured, I'll be careful in handling the wiki until the other editors make a return.
Edit: Also I wanted to ask you if it would be okay if I replaced Episode 1's head image with a higher quality one.
Sorry for the late reply. I was out of town for the past few days.
The wiki doesn't have many active editors, so having you here is a blessing. If you can help out with more stuff around here, that would be great. I will do what I can to support your stay.
Regarding the discord group, the tl;dr is that we are no longer affiliated with the discord team. They're still around if you're interested. Here's the discord invitation: https://discordapp.com/invite/SxAR3Qd
Also feel free to replace the images. Those were preview images I took from the boku-ben official website, and they don't have HD ones.
Also I wanted to mention that perhaps, concerning the synopsis pages for the characters, we should separate them in to two tabs -- one for the original manga and one for the anime adaptation -- as there are certain events that happened in the original that the anime decided to skip over (or do in a later time), and the chronological order the anime has done does not match up with the manga as well.
Thought I would suggest the idea, since that's a thing we're doing at the K-ON! wiki too.
For character sypnosis, I think the manga's chronology is more canon. We can use template to flag sections that only happen in the manga (skipped in the anime).
The reorganization of events in the adaptation isn't uncommon either, and its main purpose, imo, is to fit the 24-min episodic format. Unless the anime decides to change many vital aspects of the manga's chronology, I wouldn't be worried about this.
Thanks for the suggestion, by the way. I've swung by K-On Wiki and seen what you guys did. Cool idea. Still, it would be a hassle to handle duplicative content, and we don't have much helper anyway.
One other suggestion I thought I would throw in was that we throw in bits of what the anime did on the character synopses since I thought it would be better to add specific elements from the adaptation, like from Episode 1 where Nariyuki mentioned to himself how he knows nothing about Rizu and Fumino apart from their famed genius statuses across Ichinose Academy.
You were talking about what the anime did differently besides the chronological order? I think such details are more fitting in Episode articles (Episode 1 , Episode 2 , etc.), under a section called "Anime and Manga Differences" or something similar.
>>Nariyuki mentioned to himself how he knows nothing about Rizu and Fumino apart from their famed genius statuses across Ichinose Academy.
I'm not quite sure how you try to fit this in the character synposis, but still, feel free to do what you think is good.
By all means. Doing so would keep the gallery organized. The only issue I see, related to your decision on what images to include, is that in the long term, the gallery would be stacked with "repetitive" images without any context/caption.
I can insert captions for them soon enough. Those two images you did point out, I can give the caption of "Nariyuki being interviewed by the Headmaster" and "Nariyuki amazed at Uruka's faster swimming" respectively. Though if you feel like I should just replace them with others, it's fine with me too.
I guess I should try and do what the others at the K-ON! wiki did with the main cast gallery pages lol
Anyway, I'll keep that in mind. I will put focus on the episode pages for now so that way I know which images I should put in the character galleries that are not already on the episode gallery themselves, because, like you and I think, repetitive images should not be a thing.
So lately there's been this one registered editor that's been editing Kawase and Episode 8's pages with vandalism. This person already got blocked before, but it looks they are back with a different account and just vandalized Tsutsui's page. Perhaps, put the pages on Protection for only certain registered members? Just a suggestion.
Thank you letting me know. This account (and those sharing the same IP) won't be vandalizing for a time. I've been busy with IRL things, so I can't lock the pages you asked, for now. It's a neat idea. Will do when I have time.
Also, I'm contacting the sysop to grant you content moderator privileges, if you're interested. Afterall, you've been a great help. Thanks again.
Hi King, I am gadboyz, admin of Act-Age Wiki . I want to affiliate Act-Age Wiki with We Never Learn since both series are running in the same magazine, Weekly Shonen Jump. This is our wiki wordmark if you agree to affiliate our wiki. Thank you for your attention, i hope we always support both series in the future.
Just an FYI, you can't adopt the wiki without making a blog or discussion post and/or discussing with the other existing active contributors first (in this case me). If you don't mind, I will take over the adoption request and in return I will provide you with administrator rights.
I see that you have planned to adopt this wiki. My primary concern is with the wiki’s overall poor template management and several other styling issues. On the other hand, you have been greatly active for the past few days. I support your decision to take over the request. Anything you need me do to help with this?
Hi! I agree that a bunch of templates on this wiki need to be updated. Not a fan of the rounded edges for chapter infoboxes, but I am interested in the suggestions you had in mind for templates and styling. I figured we should add tabs for the main casts to include an image gallery at the very least. Besides that, fix the wiki wordmark and add a new background. Looking forward to working with you :)
Likewise, I'm eager to start working with you. Regarding the templates, you can visit the 5Toubun wiki, which I'm also an admin of, to see my templates. I will adopt several styling from my wiki for Bokutachi wiki, but my main focus is will be on the bokuben official anime site. They have great designs there that I look forward to "getting my hands on" :)
